On Wednesday June 28, 2023, Andrey Desmond, of Connecticut, was arrested for assaulting a Muslim politician.
Connecticut State Representative Maryam Khan was attending an Eid al-Adhan service with her friend, sister and her three children when she was attacked.
Desmond reportedly got in Khan's face, said horrible things and then assaulted her. Other people wrestled Desmond to the ground, and he was arrested when police arrived.
Desmond has a history of violent and criminal behavior. Just looking at Hartford County court records where Desmond currently lives, here's what was found.
Larceny March 21, 2012
Police arrested Desmond on March 21, 2012 for larceny. On September 24, 2013. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail, suspended, and let out on conditional discharge for 1 year.

Failure to Appear January 6, 2013
Police arrested Desmond on January 6, 2013 for failure to appear.

Breach of Peace 2nd Degree January 9, 2013
On September 19, 2013, Desmond was found guilty of breach of peace 2nd degree and for failing to appear in court. The breach of peace offense ocurred on January 9, 2013. The failure to appear was on January 24, 2013.
Breach of Peace 2nd Degree August 25, 2013
In 2013, Desmond was found guilty of "breach of peace 2nd degree." The sentence handed down was six months in jail and 1 year of probation. The sentence included the language, "Execution suspended after 45 days," which might mean Desmond only served 45 days of his six month sentence.
Related to this case, Desmond's probation was revoked on September 21, 2015.

Breach of Peace 2nd Degree December 21, 2013
Just a few months after being arrested for breach of peace, Desmond was once again arrested for the same charge on December 21, 2013.
This time, Desmond didn't probation, he was convicted on Feb. 24, 2014 and sentenced to 60 days in jail.

Assault 3rd Degree January 2, 2016
Desmond was arrested on January 2, 2016 for assault 3rd degree. On February 1, 2016, he was sentenced to one year in jail suspended, and two years probation.

Also noted in this court document that Desmond violating probation and his probation had been terminated. That was recorded on June 26, 2023, but on June 28, 2023, Desmond was able to assault this Muslim woman in front of her kids.
